is a program for skaters aged 3-5 with little or no skating experience. Lessons are 30 minutes in length and in a group format. Children must be three by the time lessons begin and potty trained. Children must also be able to understand and follow through with simple instructions given in a large group.

This program teaches basic skills including how to move safely and balance while on the ice. The program helps to build confidence as skaters begin to learn-to-skate through fun games and activities focused on basic movements. This may look different this year as skaters will be encouraged to grow and explore skating and begin on the ice at their ability level. One change may be that your child’s group begins off the ice, exploring movement in skates on a stable surface.

Coaches will be practicing social distancing and as such can provide momentary physical guidance, but not sustained support.

Children must be confident enough to be away from their primary caregiver for 30 mins. If your child becomes emotionally overwhelmed while on the ice, coaches will ask that your child step off the ice so that you can support them directly in calming before returning to the ice. If they continue to find the session overwhelming, coaches will speak with you about alternative options/programs.
