CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. When you sign up for CanSkate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skating skill development. you will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills. A 45 minute class either once or twice a week designed for beginners ages 5 and up. Lessons are given in a group format and led by a NCCP certified professional coach. Professional coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, music, and a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning. CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada skating programs. Parents are NOT allowed on the ice but are encouraged to stay at the rink or have someone to cover in case the child needs to get off (i.e. washroom, skate tightening etc).
Mandatory equipment - Skates - Figure Skates or Hockey Skates
- ONLY CSA Approved Hockey Helmets for all Skaters (face shields optional)
- Mitts/Gloves & Comfortable warm clothes (layers).

Fundraising/Volunteering** - Casino/Buy Out/Fundraise/Volunteer Commitment

**If you have a skater in one of our PreCanSkate/CanSkate sessions and a skater in IFS/StarSkate you will only be required to complete the IFS/StarSkate commitments.***
